How to host a Matilda Day mini-fundraiser

Step 1: Choose Your Local Shelter

Pick a dog shelter or rescue in your community that you love.

How to find one:

Search "[your city] dog shelter" or "[your city] dog rescue"
Look for a nonprofit with an online donation page
Call and confirm they can accept online donations or that they have a fundraising platform

Step 2: Set a Goal

Set a fundraising goal of $100 or more, whatever feels right for you.

Step 3: Decide How You'll Raise It

Option A: Direct Donation

Give directly to your chosen shelter's website or in person
Use their donation link and share it with friends and family

Option B: Small Online Fundraiser

Create a Facebook or Instagram fundraiser for your local shelter, using the content I’m sharing here.
Use a platform like GoFundMe, Fundly, or your shelter's own fundraising tool
Invite friends to contribute

Option C: Host a Mini-Event

Organize a coffee date, dog walk, dinner, or some other gathering
Ask participants to donate in Matilda's honor

Step 4: Share Matilda's Story

Use the messaging templates below to tell your friends about Matilda Day. It helps to make it personal, of course, and why you love dogs, maybe especially senior dogs.

Step 5: Report Your Impact

When you've donated or raised whatever amount, please fill out this simple form so we can celebrate together.
